EUMOFA invites you to join its workshop on the impacts of COVID-19 on the fishery and aquaculture sectors, which will be held as part of the European Maritime Day 2021.

EUMOFA is pleased to announce the upcoming workshop “COVID-19 and seafood: Impact and way forward”, which will be held remotely on Zoom on 21 May 2021, 09:00 - 10:15 CET, as part of the European Maritime Day 2021.

The panel of experts will include:

  • Ms Maren Bøe (EUMOFA), Market analyst
  • Mr Marcio Castro de Souza (Food and Agriculture Organization), Senior Fishery Officer
  • Mr Javier Ojeda (Federation of European Aquaculture Producers), Interim General Secretary;
  • Mr Frank Evrat (Les Pêcheurs de Bretagne), Project manager.

The event will be moderated by Mr Alessandro Pititto (EUMOFA), Market intelligence coordinator.

This workshop is extremely topical, with fishery and aquaculture being among the food sectors most immediately impacted by the COVID-19 crisis. The speakers will outline how the COVID-19 crisis has been affecting the fishery and aquaculture supply chains, and what policies and measures are needed to address the economic effects of the crisis. Different points of view will be presented, with special focus on the variety of impacts and of policy responses both in the EU and worldwide. Throughout the workshop, attendees will be encouraged to interact and provide input to identify actionable conclusions on how to improve policy response and market resilience.

The event is free, but please register to the European Maritime Day and add the EUMOFA workshop to your Agenda. Registration is open until 17 May.

In view of the workshop, we inform you that EUMOFA is releasing a new series of monitoring reports, providing an overview of the market evolutions of some of those species most likely affected by the COVID-19 crisis.
