Presentation of the EUMOFA Freshwater aquaculture study at the EATIP webinar
EUMOFA expert Ms. Safa Souidi will present the EUMOFA study “Freshwater aquaculture in the EU” during the webinar “Freshwater aquaculture: Nature-based solutions”, organized by the European Aquaculture Technology and Innovation Platform (EATIP) on May 26.
The European Aquaculture Technology and Innovation Platform (EATIP) is organizing the webinar “Freshwater aquaculture: Nature-based solutions”, which will take place on 26 May, 10:00 - 12:00 (CET).
The aim of the event is to address new trends, systems and technologies that may contribute to a more efficient use of freshwater resources both at a European and global level.
Ms. Safa Souidi (EUMOFA expert) will give the opening talk “Freshwater Aquaculture in the EU: current situation and potentialities for growth”, to present the main finding of the recently-released EUMOFA study on the Freshwater aquaculture sector in the EU.
The study provided an overview of the sector, examining its socio-economic importance and the markets for its products, as well as its economic performance and level of innovation. The study concludes with an assessment of potentialities for development. Among other things, growth seems to be linked to the ability of the sector to manage to sustainably increase production through tailored and innovative solutions such as Recirculating aquaculture systems and Integrated-multitrophic aquaculture.
These new solutions, analysed in recently-released EUMOFA studies, will be addressed during the webinar’s thematic presentations. Other presentations will include innovations and challenges for the sustainability of the sector, and for the transfer of innovative solutions in developing countries.
Throughout the event, the speakers will be available to interact with participants and respond to questions.
The webinar is free, but please register here to receive the link to join.
