New study: Freshwater aquaculture in the EU

The study starts with an overview of the sector, examining its socio-economic importance and the markets for its products, as well as its economic performance and level of innovation. An overview of the environmental benefits linked to some types of freshwater aquaculture and its strong impact on local communities is also provided. Finally, the study concludes with an assessment of potentialities for development.

EUMOFA has released the 2020 Edition of “The EU Fish Market”. The publication aims at providing an economic description of the whole European fisheries and aquaculture industry. It replies to questions such as what is produced/exported/imported, when and where, what is consumed, by whom and what are the main trends. “The EU Fish Market” is available in English, French, Spanish, German, and Italian.
